Mary(Marie) E. Belmont(nee Scutro), 97, of Elizabeth, N.J., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Marie was a lifelong resident of the city of Elizabeth. She attended Battin High School and then went on to Berkeley Business College. From a young age, she worked with her parents in the family business at the Petruccelli Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Eventually, her husband Bob would join her in the business, and in 1994, she became the proprietor with him and remained so until the present. Marie was a member of the Retired Men and Ladies' Club of Elizabeth and was a past president of Saint Anthony’s Altar Guild and Saint Anne’s Rosary Society. Her loving family, with whom she spent all of her time, was her greatest joy.

Marie is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Robert(Bob) A. Belmont and her parents Peter and Elizabeth(nee Petruccelli) Scutro.

She is the beloved mother of Marie E. Belmont Baio, cherished grandmother of Louis Jr., and Peter(Christina) Baio and Elizabeth(Daniel) Lack, dear sister of Adelene Pelosi, and loving great-grandmother of Mary, Anna, Peter, Jr., Harrison, Nicholas, and Benjamin. Marie is also survived by her niece, nephews, great-niece, great-nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. and Friday, July 21, 2023, from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Petruccelli Funeral Home, 232 Christine St., Elizabeth, NJ 07202 with a funeral mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's R.C. Church, 853 Third Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ. Burial is in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, N.J.
