Joseph A. Cusmano, 93, of Elizabeth, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 3, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Joe was a lifelong resident of the city of Elizabeth and a veteran who served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. From 1948 until 1953, he was a milling machine operator for the Singer Manufacturing Company, in Elizabeth. In 1954, he went to work for Lucent Technologies in Clark, NJ where he was a layout man for 39 years retiring in 1994. Joe was a member of the Retired Men & Ladies Club of Elizabeth, the vice-president of St. Anthony's Senior Citizens Society, and a bingo worker for many years at St. Anthony's Church.
He is predeceased by his brother, Paul Cusmano, Sr.
Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary L. (Giacalone)Cusmano, his children; Paul (Janice) J. Cusmano, and Michele(Billy) Donegan, his grandchildren; Paul(Allison), Billy, Jr., Connor, Anthony, and Sarah(Justin), and his great-granddaughter, Amelia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Petruccelli Funeral Home, 232 Christine St., Elizabeth, NJ 07202 with a funeral mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 853 Third Ave., Elizabeth, NJ, 07202. Burial to follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
