Teresa (Ariniello) Cianfano, 75, of Elizabeth, NJ passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, February 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Teresa was born in Italy and came to the United States on October 15,1969, with her husband, Salvatore, and their four young children. They made the Peterstown section of Elizabeth, NJ, their home, where she remained and was an active member of her community. In August 1985, Teresa and her husband became the proprietors of Cianfano’s Restaurant in Elizabeth, which they operated until retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Anthony’s of Padua R.C. Church, where she also fundraised for their CCD program. Teresa was a loyal donor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and was devoted to St. Anthony, Padre Pio, and Our Lady of Fatima. In her spare time, she loved to garden, cook (her delicious food) and most of all spend time with her family.
She is predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Salvatore Cianfano, her daughter, Carmela Cianfano and her companion, Mario Da Costa.
Teresa is survived by her children; Filomena Alfano and her husband Charlie, Carmine Cianfano and his wife Marta, and Sergio Cianfano and his wife, Roslyn Nina-Cianfano. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 3-7 p.m. and Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Petruccelli Funeral Home, 232 Christine Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202 with a funeral mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 853 Third Ave., Elizabeth NJ, 07202. Entombment to follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ.
