Obituary of Gerald (Duke) S. Astore

Gerald (Duke) S. Astore, 86, of Easton, PA, formerly of Elizabeth, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Jerry was born in Elizabeth, NJ where he resided for 64 years. He moved to Bushkill, PA in 1998 where he lived until 2006 when he relocated to Easton, PA. Jerry worked for Sears from 1957-1990 where he began his career as a contractor inspector in Elizabeth, NJ and later worked as a kitchen designer in their Staten Island location.After leaving Sears, he continued as a kitchen designer and worked at Channel Home Centers in Kearny, NJ for 6 years retiring in 1996. Jerry served his country in the US Navy and was a member of the Navy Band. He bowled three times a week at Bar Don Lanes in Easton, PA, with his buddies where he was the Senior League President. He was also a member of the Peterstown Retired Mens and Ladies Club in Elizabeth, NJ. Jerry sang in the choir at St. Anthony's Church in Elizabeth, NJ for 20 years and was a cantor, as well as belonging to the Highland Chorus in Easton, PA. Jerry loved music and listened to the same playlist every morning at breakfast. He was a huge Yankees fan and loved to cruise to his favorite destination, Bermuda. Jerry's family was his pride and joy, and his greatest pleasure was spending time with them,especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Jo(Catarella) Astore, and his siblings; Peter and Marie Astore, and Anne DeMave. He is survived by his wife, Diane(Addesso) Astore, his children; David(Linda) Astore, Gerald(Anna Maria) S. Astore, Jr., and Carol Astore, his grandchildren; Vanessa, Holly, and Marcella, his great-grandchildren; Peyton, Penelope, Benjamin and Alexander, and his granddogs; Niko and Murphy. A visitation will be held at the Petruccelli Funeral Home, 232 Christine St, Elizabeth, NJ on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 8:00-9:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Saint Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Elizabeth, NJ. Cremation will be private. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.
