Glenn De La Guardia Obituary

Glenn De La Guardia, of Manville, NJ, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Born in New York, NY, Glenn moved to Hillside, NJ, at the age of 12. In 2000, he settled in Union, NJ, where he raised his family, and in 2022, he and his wife made their home in Manville.

For many years, Glenn was a proud and dedicated longshoreman at Port Elizabeth in Elizabeth, NJ. Known for his hard work and strong commitment, he took great pride in providing for his family, who meant everything to him.

Glenn was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the Miami Dolphins, and he enjoyed the freedom of riding Harley-Davidsons, often sharing the road with his son-in-law and riding partner, John Mejia. A homebody at heart, he found happiness in simple pleasures—relaxing in his garage with music playing, a cold beer in hand, and the comfort of good company. He also enjoyed watching police shows, smoking the occasional cigar, and being surrounded by the people he loved most.

Above all, Glenn’s family was the center of his world. His children and grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pipa,” brought him the greatest joy. He will be remembered for his patience, sharp wit, and sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone who knew him.

Glenn was predeceased by his father, Manuel De La Guardia.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Claudia De La Guardia; his children, Christina De La Guardia, Vanessa Mejia, and Glenn De La Guardia II; his beloved mother, Isabel De La Guardia; his cherished grandchildren, Caleb, Riley, and Phineas; his sisters, Shirley De La Guardia and Janet De La Guardia-Eldeken; and his son-in-law, John Mejia.

Glenn leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work. His family will miss him deeply and carry his memory in their hearts forever.

A visitation will be held at the Petruccelli Funeral Home, 232 Christine Street, Elizabeth, NJ, on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
